Navitas Organics Cashew Nuts come from the tropical regions of Vietnam, where the woody evergreen Cashew tree develops small yellowish-pink flowers that produce fruits. The Cashew Nuts themselves grow in a protrusion, called a Cashew apple, that hangs from the flower and resembles a large kidney bean. When you look at a handful of nuts, it’s fun to imagine that each single nut was once hidden inside a shell the size of bell pepper!

There are various options for extracting the Cashew Nut from its shell. At Navitas, we choose the option that is best for the product and the people who work with it. We work closely with our suppliers, extracting the Cashew nutmeats from their hard, bitter shells with a special hand-shelled, low-heat extraction process that preserves their valuable nutrients, healthy fats and sweet, delicate flavor.
